Ek saarson ka kafila,  (in Urdu Script)

by Vakil Abdul Hamid Sahib of Bhera,  Pakistan.

اک،   سارسوں  کا  قافلہ

شاعر:   وکیل  عبدالحمید صاحب،  بھیرہ،  پاکستان

My father (May Allah pak bless him) had a very melodious voice & an excellent sense of music. In his younger days he used to play harmonium, sitar & violin also.

During the period 1965 - 1971, he used to often sing something for the family, specially the children, after dinner & before sleep. This poem was one of the favourites of the children (mostly me & my sister, who would often start weeping, a blessed soft heart that she is)

The tenor in Abba's voice (May Allah pak bless him) and his ability to sing  high notes with a low voice, would make this poetry shine & have effect.

This poem was written ( ~1935-45 ) by a little known poet (Vakil Abdul Hameed) who was from Bhera, a small but very historical town near Sargodha, Pakistan.  But definitively it did have an impact on the urdu speaking culture of that time. if you look deeply you find the emphasis this puts on values like Family, Loyalty, Sacrifice & Relationships

By the time, Abba (May Allah pak bless him) passed away - I have forgotten the lyrics. Then it took me 20 years approx to find these, about 2 years ago.
